Geophysical modeling and survey design for a copper exploration project

We support Scout Discoveries on a copper exploration project in Idaho. The work combines several kinds of geophysical and geochemical data into subsurface models, and helps decide which surveys to run next. Project locations, targets and results are confidential.

Challenge, method, outcome

Challenge

Exploration in rugged terrain is expensive, and the data comes from many instruments: magnetics, VLF, induced polarization, magnetotellurics and soil samples. Each shows part of the picture. The project needs one consistent model and a clear view of where the next survey dollar does the most good.

Method

Joint models that tie the different data sets together. Synthetic geology to test survey designs and train machine-learning models before field work. Drone and ground survey plans checked against depth of investigation and cost. A data pipeline that processes each new survey and compares it with earlier results.

Outcome

A working multi-sensor modeling workflow and survey-planning tools for the project. Results and data are confidential.
